The german army is decimated but still strong enough to make a attack on western europe suicidal. The US launches constant air raids seeking to decimate the reich. Meanwhile in the pacific japan is pushed back to the home islands in 1944. In 1947 what is commonly known as the big one is launched. 300 plus B36 bombers combined with airborne refuelers launch a massive nuclear attack on japan and Germany. The germans and japanese that survive the slaughter surrender almost immediately.

In China the communists have taken the north while the nationalists with american help have held the south. In late 1949 NC with the newly belligerent russias help launches a attack on SC. The US prepares a massive force to back up the SC forces. Then the ISOT occurs and america faces a all new peril.

And the German army wouldn't be "decimated" if they tried to invade Britain-germany has several million troops, you can't kill 1/10 of them just like that...not to mention that they wouldn't invade Britain in 1943 if they were at war with the Soviet union. And "stalin and the Sov gov collapses dead" doens't make sense either. As does "the germans and japanese that survive the slaughter surrender immediately". A population can't surrender...a nation can, but populations don't.

In 1941 a group of German and japanese spies unleash a virus on the American populace. It works well and kills tens of thousands of americans. The american populace is both greatly saddened and greatly enraged. Meanwhile on the eastern front a group of Russian veterans parading in Moscow open fire on the area holding stalin and most of the government.

Without effective leadership the Germans manage to push the Russians back to the ural mountains. Strategic bombers based in the UK launch massive raids on occupied europe. Meanwhile in the pacific due to the american use of chemical weapons and the fixing of the torpedo problem the japanese are pushed farther and farther back. Until finally in 1946 they are pushed into the home islands themselves. In 1947 What will forever be known as the big one is launched. 300 + B36s loaded with nuclear weapons hit Germany and japan. The surviving government members of both countries form emergency governments and surrender.

Russia pushes back to its orginal 1939 borders. China is split between the communist north and nationalist south. Americans enjoy the wealth and prosperity the post war world provides. In 1949 NC launches a attack on SC. To support the SC forces america begins shipping troops and supplies in. A massive army is being prepared to fight the NC and bring all of china back under nationalist control.

In this TL, the opening of Japan...was much more unpleasant. Russia got to Japan first. Japan managed to bairly defeat a Russian Invasion of the Coastline, and they knew it would not be long before another came. However, the Emperor did not want to do all of what the people said would be needed for reform. The country did see much of military and technology reforms, but the people wanted more. Amid the Slums of Tokyo arose a socialist ideology, its origins still barely known. This resentment simmered for over 30 years, until in bioled over in a massive week of bloodshed and revolution.

Japanese Peasent Armies and large portions of the army and the navy revolted, and raised the Red Banner of Revolution across Japan. The Last Bastion of Japanese History to fall was the Imperial Palace. The Emperor was executed and his body tossed in the ocean, along with every single person in the Imperial Palace. The Palace was destroyed, and replaced with the National Revolutionary Measuem for the Peoples Struggle to Liberate Japan.

A mysterious revolutionary leader known as the Helmsman came to take over Japan, and began to lead the people to victory...government after government in Asia fell to the Red Banner. With Manchuria gone, the proud Chinese Empire, led by a young son of heaven, prepares to make a stand against the truely frightening war machine of the Asian Revolutionary Union.

The problem I see, even with the revised version, is the attack on the CONUS. Just not going to happen. The use of biological weapons (especially viruses) is such a technological leap that it upsets the balance of the rest of the scenario.

The U.S. was more than pissed off enough IOTL to go to the wall without any such attack. If you want to goad up the U.S. a notch, you can play up the atrocities that Imperial Japan and the Reich committed.

The imminent outbreak of another war is a good idea, since that allows you to have all the reserve formations and mothballed ships warmed up from the get.

Didn't the Japanese do a lot of research into viruses. My idea was the kidnap and infect 25 children across the US. These children are turned into carriers. They infect everyone they meet but cannot get sick of the virus. The carriers are all put in hospitals and cured but not before tens of thousands are infected and die.

If that doesn't work I have a idea for gas attacks on five major American cities.

History

More than 60% of Cascarian territory was not ISOTed, leaving a fairly tramatized country behind. While it has quickly become clear that something bizarre has happened, what it is is unclear. Besides the appearance of the United States in a large portion of Cascadian territory, the lands in the rest of South America and Africa which did not accompany the rest of the country to where ever this is are quite literally, empty. No sign of human life has been found by any search aircraft beside those flying of the U.S.

The Cascadian Constitution owes much to Jefferson, but with a very deep peace through strength mindset. After a serious natural disaster destroyed a major portion of the Eastern Seaboard of North America in 1843 a new Nation rose from the ashes that was both expansionist and rabidly anti-slavery. By the end of 1945 Cascadia stretched from pole to pole, in complete control of the Western Hemisphere. Interestingly, except for a small portion of the Southern Cone, the last part of the Americas that came under Cascarian control in Novermber of 1945 (after a brief, albeit bloody war with Greater Bavaria, which also gained Cascadia significant territory in Africa, and was ended when Cascadia's military demonstrated a robust nuclear capacity with three water shots in the North Sea off GB's main seaports in a two hour period), the whole of the Americas is a fully modern state, with citizenship and the unique Cascadian brand of democracy available to all. Even in the far Southern tip of the Hemisphere the "native" (read non Bavarian) populous finds life far better than it had under their former Teutonic rulers.

The Cascadian military was, simply put, immense. It, as a matter of law, is required to have a military capable of defending the nation against any enemy or group of enemies. While active duty forces are less than 1% of the total population, this force is trained to be ready for war on an instant's notice. This is reflected in it's huge, nearly overpowering navy, its highly trained Army and Air Force, and in its amazing reserve system. Almost 55% of the Cascadian population consists of military or National Service veterans. Every one of these men and women belongs to local/regional/national militia formations that are able to mobilize in a matter of hours up with a battalion level. Every neighborhood has an armory where medium, and in some cases, heavy weapons are kept available. Part of the responsibility of Citizenship is to maintain skills in military drill 27 days a year (or in military support duties that free the military members to fight). This system extends to reserve naval units, Cascadia's naval reserve force is, as one would expect from a country with as much coastline as it possesses, larger than most countries regular fleets. The system makes the entire country a massive hedgehog, presenting no soft underbelly for any potential attacker to strike. Combined with a very effective Military Intelligence community Cascadia is not a state to be trifled with. This has been substantially damaged by the non-ISOTed parts of the country, but the country is still almost embarrassingly strong.

In the recent "World War" Cascadia demonstrated what is best described as a single-mindedness of purpose that resulted in the utter defeat of her opponents. That she then spent billions of Cascadian dollars rehabilitating the states she had recently obliterated doesn't change the fact that Cascadian military forces pursued their enemies with less pity than a pride of lions with a wounded springbok.

Cascadia is, in many ways, a puzzle to outsiders. It was one of the first countries to extend the vote to all citizens, regardless of race, gender, or economic status, but it also has one of the most difficult tests to gain citizenship in history. While everyone is protected by the Cascadian Constitution with full civil rights, only citizens are allowed to vote. Citizenship is gained in one way, and only one. Service to the greater good of Cascadia (currently for five years). This can be in the Military, in publicly beneficial labors (this was originally only in things like mining and other very dangerous tasks, although it evolved somewhat in the 1930s), and in rare cases, extreme acts of heroism. Certain professions are reserved for Citizens, including Medicine, Public Safety, and politics, but again, anyone who wants to join that profession has the absolute right to provide Service. Virtually all teenagers provide two years of less demanding service, generally in menial tasks, after their 14 years of required education, in order to qualify for educational grants that provide full tuition until completion of a Master's Degree in all subjects and Ph.D in the sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Cascadia is generally acknowledged to be the world leader in the sciences, with many cutting edge technologies originating there. generation.

The Cascadian electrical grid is based on Geo-thermal, hydro-electric, (and increasingly nuclear power) generation almost completely, freeing up its massive oil reserves for non-civilian applications and limited export. The electric vehicle program of the country, begun in the 1910's has created a massive network of charging stations throughout the country (Warren's government claims that one is never more than fifty road miles from a charger base, this, of course, ignores the large areas that are off road) is the envy of the world.

Immigration into Cascadia is not difficult, assuming one is willing to accept the strange political set-up of the nation. It provides no form of welfare or public assistance to those who are between the ages of 19 and 58 (the required retirement age for some professions) except for medical care. There are jobs for all willing to work and little tolerance for those unwilling to do their fair share. Unsurprisingly productivity is high in the manufacturing section, although not the highest among industrialized nations measured by man years. This something of a function of the reserve duties for much of the population, but also because of the amount of factory space reserved for toolings and dies needed for military production.

Criminal laws are enforced with what outsiders have called a vengeance, a term not found to be insulting to Cascadian residents. The justice system, based on the tenet of innocent until proved guilty, requires a very high level of proof, with both the defense and state given virtually unlimited resources during the trial period. The appeal process is also very strong, even tilted, toward the defendant, but is, unsurprisingly, not set up to permit repeated frivolous claims. Once the appeals process is completed, the criminal system becomes very hard indeed. Lashes are common for offenses like drunk driving and petty theft. There are no executions allowed, instead Cascadian courts impose a sentence unique to Cascadia; Life Alone. Once the appeal process is finished those unfortunate enough to have this sentence imposed will, quite literally, never see another human being as long as they live. It is this part of Cascadian society that is the most criticized by civil libertarians in the liberal democracies. Interestingly, the Cascadians freely acknowledge the cruelity of their system expressing a belief that punishment is pointless unless it works to disuade others from commiting an offense.

History

Germany's history is OTl up to late June, 1940, wherein he is killed by a French resistance sniper as he visits the frontline. As a result, the entire German High Command is thrown into a disarray, and deeply divided. The SA launches a coup, and gains support in southern Germany, while the debate over who should be the new Fuhrer rages. Heinrich Himmler is assasinated in July, and with the Waffen SS distracted battling with the remnants of the SA, Admiral Canaris, along with the German Resistance, launches a new coup himself, detaining Hitler loyalists and other Nazi diehards.

The war, though continues, but by mid-1941, with no end in sight, the Allies are clearly not winning. Admiral Canaris offers generous surrender terms, which are accepted, allowing for the french nation to be re-established, and a 20-year long non-aggression treaty is agreed upon, with all nations involved limiting their militaries. But with an agressive Soviet Union on it's eastern border, Germany becomes worried, and secret arms production continues.

Wityh no Hitler, Germnay is generally a nice place to live in. The SA and SS have been disbanded, and there are democratic elections. The ghettos and concentration camps have long ago been dismantled, and the shameful evidence surrounding them hidden. Despite this, there has still been a mass exodus of Jews from Europe.
