It is just after the fall of Okinawa. The Enola Gay is ready to fly. But suddenly, something changes. Every Japanese plane, man, ship or vehicle crashed, sunk, killed or destroyed, is returned...in spectral form. Yes, this applies to officers as well. The spectral men and machines are indestructible through simple intangibility (bombs, bullets, nuclear explosions, etc. just pass through them), although they may attack physical things, and they instil a sense of numb terror in any non-ally that sees them.
The dead men and destroyed vehicles 'respawn' where they were killed/destroyed. They will not stop attacking the Allies until the war is either ended in a way that is favourable to Japan or Japan keeps Taiwan and Korea. They do not require fuel or ammunition. They have the ability to cross over to the US mainland and knock out bombers, ships, etc.
What happens?
