Draka V the Chimera

Poll based on an abandoned idea of mine :o

Suppose the Drakaverse and the Resistance universe merge (basically everything Draka till 1908 when the Resistanceverse kicks in). The Draka now face the Threat of the Chimera coming down from russia in 1948.

Who would you support and why?

It depends. If the Alliance is destined to lose to the Draka, it is better that Humanity die. If the Alliance has a real shot at defeating the Draka, then the Draka. Give me a Draka too weak to hold Europe (as in the alliance right after Draka victory threatens the Draka with a war it cannot win at the moment) then I support the Draka. But in the end the Draka must LOSE.

Is the Alliance destined to lose against the Draka?
I never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather see Humanity exterminated than it be corrupted by the Draka.

And the Draka would be aware of the Chimera much earlier than 1948. Assuming that the conquest of Russia mirrored Chimera evolution, by Barbarossa the Soviets should have committed large elements of the Red Army to Siberia to fight them OR, more likely, the Chimera would start hitting major Siberian population centers just after the conclusion of the Eurasian War, moving quickly to European Russia if the Draka could not contain them. In Resistance the Czarist Russians seemed to have been overwhelmed very quickly, or they would have asked the European Market for help when it was clear that Siberia was lost to them. Life in European Russia may have been normal as late as 1947. And then the Chimera would have spread into northern China before the fall of the Steel Curtain if their advance was more steady, giving the Europeans at least some idea of what they were about to face.

1922 - Russia closes its borders.

1925 - Domination annexes Afghanistan, but incurs heavier casualties than the 60% casualties inflicted upon the locals due to "unexpected" resistance in the north along the Russian Central Asian borders. Artillery firebases along Heirud to Pamli erected to seal off the north from "non-essential personnel".

1930 - Wall Street Crash. Fuel cells developed as viable power source. First chain reaction observed. Closed-circuit television.

1933 - Nazi Party rise to power in Germany. FDR elected President, declares New Deal. Strange light sightings in Sweden and Norway. Domination accelerate nuclear fission research.

1938 - Polish border parties find abandoned cities as far as the Ukraine. No evidence of survivors.

1939 - Eurasian War begins. Nazi-Japanese alliance.

1940 - France falls, BoB ends in stalemate. Wehrmacht probing thrusts into "empty" Russia are swiftly turned back, shocking the world. Brest-Litvosk Line established to counter sudden reversal. Nazi Propaganda blames this on intransigent Jewish-Bolshevik saboteurs, promises swift vengeance, refuse details on the "Enemy".

1941 - Hawaii, Philippines and European Southeast Asian Colonial Holdings are swept in a Japanese Blitzkrieg. America in the war. Panama struck, but Japanese landings are beaten there.

1942 - Massive fighting along Brest-Litvosk against the Enemy. Domination launches massive airborne/amphibious invasions of the Balkans, Italy, Crimea, Caucasus. The first two are met with overwhelming success, the last two simply... disappear. Hitler dies, replaced by a militarist junta of Stauffenberg, Manstein and Rommel.

1943 - Draka detonates first fission bomb in central Sahara. US glide bombs and jet fighters inflict complete annihilation of major Japanese fleet in the "Ten Minutes" Battle of Santa Cruz. Contact with cities and towns in Alaska, Western Canada lost. Massive pincer movement aimed at enclosing Germany from the West and East - armored breakthrough in central Poland, breaching of "Hitler Line" in the Apennines and the encirclement and rapid destruction of four army groups. Janissary scouts reconnoitering the Brest-Litvosk Line finds it devoid of life.

November: Germany declares Pan-European Emergency; United European Military Command formed. "Fortress Berlin" encircled. AoD forces fortify northwestern America.

December: Last elements of IJN striking warships sunk off Hawaii; retaking of Hawaii; fanatical garrison resists to the end. Japanese peace-feelers through neutral South American nations ignored. Attempt to pull-out troops from China/Manchuria to reinforce Pacific holdings vetoed due to increased "threat" from the northern borderlands lining Russia...

1944: Draka detonates two nuclear weapons on Berlin pocket, ten weapon strike follow-up on targets in the Ruhr and Alsace-Lorraine in conjunction with a smashing offensive through the Rhine and amphibious landings in southern Spain. Brest-Litvosk Line moved miles back to the Vistula-Oder, manned by Janissary rear guards .Cascadia Project bears fruit in New Mexico (50-kt plutonium device) in late March. Two nuclear powers in the world now.

April-June: Chimeran War erupts on the 1st. Compared to the "piecemeal" forces encountered by Drakan, Polish, German, Japanese and AoD thus far, this one is a massive garguntuan assault worldwide. Drakan armies in Eastern Europe (mainly Poland) are obliterated by the third day, Kwantung Army ceases to exist on the fifth and Chimeran artillery are within firing ranges of Ottawa and Detroit by the tenth.

Europe: Norway, Sweden overrun. Three Drakan army groups in Western Europe are pulled back to deal with the unexpected foe, allowing UEMC forces to temporarily reclaim areas in Northern France and Spain. Drakan jet bombers carrying the last three nukes in Drakan reserve (at least until they produce more) are used against penetrating Chimeran elements in Eastern Germany. One is shot down and fizziles, but the other two strike home and wipe out large concentrations of Chimeran creatures (the bombers are all shot down). Morale boost for Citizen and Janissary alike, but the Chimerans quickly regroup by the beginning of May and continue smashing the reinforced lines of Drakan armor and mechinf, reaching the Rhine before the end of May.

Asia: Manchuria quickly falls, followed by Northern China, Korea, Sakhalin and Hokkaido. Chimeran air raids against the Home Islands and southeast Asia destroy the last vestiges of air power left in Japan. Advance elements land in Northeastern India, Burma, Indochina. Ceasefire declared between Japan and AoD, with tentative plans to be fully worked out after the Chimera Threat has been combated.

North America: Push down the West Coast unstoppable. North American jet fighters (or any other human jets, for that matter) are massively outmatched by Chimeran Fighters, drones and deadly-accurate ground AA. Despite this, an thrust towards the major cities in California stopped by four sub-launched nuclear cruise missiles, but the Midwestern Bulge simply rolls straight for Mexico, dividing the continent into separate halves by the 26th. Liberty Defense Perimeter Plan enacted east of the Mississippi.

Middle East: Afghanistan overrun. Chimeran troops "flood" Persia, Mesopotamia by dropships, though most of the latter's LZs are beaten back by ferocious Janissary counterattacks. First mass usage of Spiral missiles reported on 14th April; from then on, they will become the preceding hallmark of all Chimeran offensives.

July: Pan-European reprieve ended with Chimeran flanking assaults, by sub-orbital dropships and massive airborne battleships, through Holland and Belgium. Bombardment of southern-central England with Spiral Missiles begins. Shattered remnants of Draka armies in Europe pull back into Italy, Balkans positions overrun. UEMC shifts headquarters to Madrid. By the end of the month, Spain and Southern Italy/Sicily are the only places left in Europe with significant human habitation. Chimera methods to deal with "Fortress Cities" bypassed are Spiral bombardment and more spiral bombardment (ie. Genoa, 9th July); no countermeasures have been found so far by the human powers, though Draka geneticists in Vicornum are working hard on it from captured specimens in Mesopotamia.
