Well, having the Huns unify was far from certain. The wealth of Rome flowing into their coffers might help.

At some point though, the Huns are going to fall, and the East will be able to free up troops.

Now, the Persians are always a concern, but Justinian's reconquests were done on limited resources (albeit with one of the greatest generals of the age).

So I'd say a 50/50 chance of Visigoth Carthage surviving a century or two longer than the Vandals did, but there is no chance they would last until the present day.

Well, the Vandals took Carthage (Quite an impressive campaign too, especially logistically. These "barbarians" aren't primitive anymore).

The Visigoths moved towards Sicily, because Alaric wanted to gather a fleet and take Rome's "breadbasket"[Carthage] so he could control the Roman system. When he died, they decided that that was more easily said than done, and they went north again.

Anyways, I'm pretty much in love with the Late Antiquity.

I just know enough about the development of Germania to debunk Romano-wankers.

Unfortunately, they disregard viewing history as trends only impacted, not controlled. Bunch of greatmanists. My favorite is when they have to handwave in the heavy plow to have their Roman Germania.

You want Rome to last? Kill the Sassanids. They were the engine that kept Rome preoccupied while Germania changed.

Between the navy and my two novel ideas, and my addiction to browsing the interwebs (If I could stop from checking the same sites hundreds of times each time I get on the internet, I might actually get something done), I don't really have time to do one. Maybe whenever my next deployment ends in August 2011.

I think it would be nice for seeing where mortars and rockets come from.
