I'm going to look around, I'd like to demonstrate my idea by "retooling" the 1st ID.

I just figure by doing it that way, the US can keep regimental identities without diminishing what a regiment actually is.

I'd dig back to WW2 , many of those units were guard units anyways. I'd even flag all battalions as the first battalion of different regiments.

What do you think it would take for the US Army to reflag all battalions as regiments? I think it'd be a great way to preserve regimental heritages, and you could completely randomly assign the names.

The best part: They say the parts are COTS. Apparently they are, but the cost must come from running the time machine to pick the parts up from 1993.

The $700 toilet seat is a running joke, but it certainly has basis in truth. We have a system on the ship that has about as much processing power as a laptop. It occupies many separate components. We have processors designed in the mid 90s that are several thousand dollars a piece. But the government is absolutely fine with it.

I understand they're designed to be more rugged than anything you would find at home, but that rugged? I doubt it. Just another cost overrun.
