When the time came and everything ended there was a certain amount of joy to be had. Mankind was removed from its sophistication and people had to embrace a better life. Sure it was a harder life but for the first time many felt a sense of community, many learned how to get along.
It was after all a necessity.
So in the new beginning there was cooperation that came before all this foolish competition. Before our species once again became a thousand tribes with a thousand faiths and a thousand reasons to fight one another, we were for a time united.
Unity implies sharing, unity implies cooperation, unity is the ability to assume certain responsibilities for the greater good. Unity is jocking.
Many of you know the term jocking from its more negative connotations. However before this noble term was devalued it was the word that embodied the concept that we should all strive for again.
The most basic sense of jocking involves a certain amount of imitation. After all the term originally meant that someone was copying with a certain delicate precision the things that made someone else who they were.
After the Mess the term was revamped and applied to the short lived universalist culture. Jocking meant a sharing of ideas and technologies amongst disparate and hard scrabble survivor groups. Jocking usually involved two different groups meeting, sitting down and sharing whatever food and knowledge of the land, news, and technological innovation they had.
In fact the word jocking has survived in the form of the official names of some honor codes. Examples include the jocalia of the tribes of Chattanoogaland, the obvious jock-jock honor code of some Tehaso, and the shococojo used by the majority of sicarios.
However things would not stay this way forever and the jocking that most are familiar with is a form of bride kidnapping or “jocking all you bitches” that came into wide use in various languages a few decades after people stopped cooperating and started killing each other.
Of course jocking all your bitches does not refer to just women. Groups with low birth rates and high libidos have taken to including children and fairly effeminate men amongst the bitches mentioned in the phrase. These groups will then turn the more traditional raid for women and food into a raid for women, food, children, and attractive yet girlish men that can be forcibly adopted into the tribe.
The practice of jocking bitches is still fairly common in the wilder southern ranges and the interior of Nourika. Though it has been specifically outlawed in most civilized areas.
