Default Afrika Korps ISOTed to Today

What if the Afrika Korps after the Battle of Gazala was ISOTed to today? It would be in Libyan today so how would they react to the revolution there?

Libyan aircraft bomb the foreign invaders into oblivion.

The End.

Jets are powerful but not that powerful.

So while they might make the Afrika Korp miserable they wouldn't obliterate them.

So, you'd have a bunch of surprised and heartbroken men out there. Erwin Rommel would be unpleasantly surprised to find out that he died in OTL and they would all be surprised to find out what happened in the war.

And then they'd probably get picked up and moved to Germany and start a new life.

Ordinarily, Gadaffi's government and Egypt would bomb them to smithereens until they surrendered.

However, given the current chaos in Libya, if they appeared today, the Libyan Army might end up surrendering to them without a serious fight.

Or some tribal leaders might see them as the answer to their pleas for overturning Ghadaffi!

Panzer,

I am not sure Rommel would be surprised to hear that he had died.

If were to be still alive today he would be over 119 years old!!!

Just how good the Libyan Army is in a conventional fight is an open question. The problem is that Rommel is going to be very short on supplies and may not have any weapons capable of harming Libyan tanks. Even if they make contact with the rebels - or the loyalists, for that matter - they won't be able to adapt to the new world very quickly. Coming to think of it, why would they take sides? What do they have in this race?

I'd expect them to try to get home. Rommel will probably be feted as the good nazi.

Chris
