For my novel so not particularly plausible.

Timeline: The Stars and the Eagle

2012: Caused by the effects of the Great Recession, the re-election of Barack Obama and the disintegration of the peaceful Occupy movement, a period of violence and unrest begins in the USA. It will last until 2019.

2013: Stefani Germanotta, AKA Lady Gaga, assassinated at the age of twenty-seven.

2015-19: Rise of the Eagle Party, a political movement following an ideology of ‘National Conservatism’ under the charismatic and populist Alexis Valentine. The Eagle Party soars in the polls, rapidly displacing the Republicans.

2020: Alexis Valentine elected to the rank of POTUS on a platform of order and national security. Beginning of Eagle Party hegemony.

2027: Due to a terrorist attack on the Capitol, state of national emergency declared.

2030-40: Eagle Party hegemony continues. In the latter portion of the period, resource wars begin in Mid-East countries, forcing UN intervention.

2040-45: Resource wars continue. USA invades and puppetises Mexico.

2044: NATO disbands due to political problems; European Defence Alliance founded to take over some of its functions. USA does not join this alliance.

2047: Invasion and vassalisation of Central American countries Panama and Costa Rica.

2053: Invasion of Canada. With the Commonwealth and EDA countries all in a state of disorder, Canada swiftly falls to American invasion. It is annexed.

2055: America becomes de facto one-party state, renamed to Republic of Columbia.

2056: General strike as workers’ unions resist government laws that have been slowly infringing on workers’ rights. In hope to change the system, peaceful protest begins in many cities. However, the military is sent in and the incipient revolution drowns in its own blood, with great loss of life. Britain and the EU protest but do nothing substantial.

2056-60: Authoritarian laws enacted in Columbia. Other parties abolished; fascism triumphant.


2065: Stefani Teliosa born in New York City.

2085: Present day.
